It’s a hard wire that offers bite protection (or prevents break offs) from toothy fish cutting the connection between your lure and your line, from such species as shark (salt) to pike/muskie (fresh). Stiff but strong wire used for bite traces. Recommend haywire twist or alb testright knot.
